Today’s Quote

God does not need your good works but your neighbor does!

— Martin Luther

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

We are never beyond the reach of temptation. Whether at home or out in the world, we are always at risk of being tempted to do wrong. The morning starts with danger, and the evening finds us still at risk. Those who are kept safe are kept by God, but woe to those who venture out or even walk around their

own house without protection. Those who feel most secure are often the most vulnerable. The armor-bearer of sin is self-confidence. Don’t be overconfident. We need a watchman for the night as well as a guardian for the day. Oh, may the love of Jesus compel us to stay active and useful!

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

June 7

Christian, you can rejoice in your safety in Christ, but don’t think you’re safe from attack. You’re like a stream from Lebanon, rushing down cascades, breaking over rocks, being blocked by boulders, and hindered by fallen trees, but you must continue

forward with God’s unstoppable force until you reach the ocean of eternal joy. We are “cast down, but not forsaken.”

Spurgeon’s Quote

It is a sad thing, that after all of Christ's love to us, we should repay it with lukewarm love to Him.
