And I will grant this people such favor in the sight of the Egyptians that when you leave, you will not go away empty-handed. — Exod 3:21 BSB
When we are truly emptied, God desires to fill us with Himself and His Holy Spirit. It’s wonderful to be aware of having nothing good in ourselves, but do we also recognize His great goodness? Many Christians are quick to admit, "We are not sufficient in ourselves to think anything as of ourselves," but I fear very few can confidently say, "Our sufficiency is from God."
Are you certain that God is able to supply your every need, or do you feel that you must provide for yourself? Are you trusting that God is already meeting every lack in your heart and life, so that there’s no longer any stumbling, and that He’s empowering you for His service, just like Elisha filled the empty vessels before they were set aside for use? Our Savior, at Cana, instructed that the water pots be filled to the brim. Only then was the water turned into wine. God wants His children to always have hearts that are full.
