The Home Of God In The Heart Of Man
For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and humble in spirit, to restore the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the contrite. — Isa 57:15 BSB
This verse speaks of God’s two homes—the vast universe and the small, human heart. Our God is so great that even the Heaven of heavens cannot contain Him, yet He is so humble that He will stoop to fill the heart of a child. He calls us to learn from Him, for He is meek and lowly in heart.
It’s almost too wonderful to believe that the Eternal God desires to dwell with us, the children of time, and that the Infinite One will descend into the narrow space of a human heart (John 14:23).
Prayer
Spirit of purity and grace, see our weakness with compassion; O make our hearts Your dwelling place, worthy of You. Amen.
