Spurgeon's Prayer: Triumphing Over the World

because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.
— 1 John 5:4 (BSB)

The way to do a great deal is to keep on doing a little. The way to do nothing is to be continually resolving that you will do everything.
— Charles Spurgeon

Gracious Father, we come before You today seeking the strength to overcome the world. We are constantly surrounded by temptations and distractions that pull us away from You, but we know that through faith, we can triumph. Help us, Lord, to live above the world, keeping our hearts and minds fixed on heavenly things.

We ask that the spiritual would always triumph over the material in our lives. It is so easy to be buried in the cares of this world, but we pray that You would give us the strength to rise above them. Let us walk in faith, knowing that our true treasure is in heaven, not on earth.

Lord, as we go through this day, help us to overcome the temptations that may come our way. Keep us from being consumed by the things of this world, and let us live in the light of eternity. May we be fully committed to living for You, with every part of our lives surrendered to Your will.

We know that the victory has already been won through Christ, and we ask for the grace to live in that victory today. Strengthen our faith, and help us to set our hearts on things above, not on earthly things. Amen.
