Friendship is the one thing in the world that everyone agrees is valuable. Friendship is as necessary to a comfortable life as fire, water, or even air itself. A person may drag along a miserable existence in proud, solitary dignity, but that’s not really living; it’s merely existing, like a tree stripped

of its leaves of hope and its fruits of joy. To be happy in this world, we need friends; and to be happy in the next, we must, above all, find a friend in God, the Father of His people.

Just as the sun first shines on the mountain tops, gilding them with light and creating one of the most beautiful sights for the traveler’s eye, so it’s delightful to see the glow of the Spirit’s light in a saint who has grown tall in spiritual stature.

Like a snow-capped mountain, they reflect the light of the Sun of Righteousness and display His radiance for all to see—and, seeing it, to glorify the great Father of lights.
