No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. — Matt 6:24 BSB

He doesn’t say, “You cannot very well serve God and mammon.” He says, “You cannot serve two masters at all.” You will inevitably end up serving one. The person who thinks they are serving God a little is deceived; they are not serving God at all. God will not accept divided service, and the devil will take full control before the end. A divided heart loses both worlds. Saul tried it. Balaam tried it. Judas tried it. They all failed disastrously. Mary chose the one thing necessary. Paul said, “This one thing I do.” And he declared, “For me, to live is Christ.” Of such a life, God says, “Because he has set his love upon Me, I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known My name.” God takes special delight in showing His love to the heart that wholly chooses Him. Heaven and earth would pass away before such trust could be disappointed. Have you chosen Him alone, giving Him all your heart?

Is it all for Jesus,
As you so often sing?
Is He your Royal Master?
Is He your heart’s dear King?
