In those days and at that time, declares the LORD, a search will be made for Israel’s guilt, but there will be none, and for Judah’s sins, but they will not be found; for I will forgive the remnant I preserve. — Jer 50:20 BSB
Some may fear that their sins will be exposed on the great day of judgment, bringing them shame and condemnation. But this will not be the case for God’s dear family. Scripture tells us that "many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake," and while some will awake "to everlasting life," others will awake "to shame and everlasting contempt" (Daniel 12:2). Those who are condemned will have their sins remembered and brought against them as evidence of their just condemnation. But for the wise, who "shall shine as the brightness of the skies" (Daniel 12:3), there will be no remembrance of sin, no charge, and no condemnation. They will stand before God clothed in Christ’s perfect righteousness, washed in His blood, and presented without spot or blemish.
Even now, the memory of our sins can be unbearable. But what would become of us if one unburied sin came before our eyes on the day when the Lord makes up His jewels? If just one sin of the Lamb’s bride could be remembered or brought against her, it would be enough to prevent the marriage, ruin the wedding supper, and drive the bride away in shame. But Scripture assures us that the Church will be presented to Christ as faultless, without any blemish, with exceeding joy (Jude 24).
This truth is certain: the complete forgiveness of sins and the presentation of the Church to Christ in spotless perfection is guaranteed. No sin will be brought against her on that great day.
