Spurgeon's Prayer: Serving the Church and Community

As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another.
— 1 Peter 4:10 (BSB)

God has work for each one of us; no believer is excepted.
— Charles Spurgeon

Lord, we come to You this morning, grateful for the opportunity to serve You by serving others. You have called us to be faithful stewards of the gifts and grace You have given us, and we ask for Your help to use those gifts for the good of our church and community. Let us be people who seek to bless and uplift those around us, not for our own glory, but for Yours.

Give us tender hearts toward those in need—whether their need is spiritual, emotional, or physical. Let us not turn a blind eye to the suffering around us, but help us to be Your hands and feet, serving others in love. May we bring comfort to the hurting, hope to the lost, and the Gospel to those who do not yet know You.

Lord, we know that You have placed us in our communities and churches for a purpose. Help us to fulfill our calling with faithfulness, seeking to bring others into Your kingdom. May our lives be marked by a genuine love for our neighbors, reflecting the love that You have shown to us.

As we go through this day, give us the strength and wisdom to serve in ways that bring honor to You. Whether it’s through a kind word, a helping hand, or a simple act of love, may we always be mindful of the opportunities to bless those around us. We thank You for the privilege of serving in Your name, and we commit our efforts to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
