Today’s Verse

who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. (BSB)

Only those who have felt their need for grace can truly extend it to others in their trials.

Spurgeon’s Daily Help
Most of God’s greatest truths are learned through hardships; they must be burned into us with the hot iron of suffering, otherwise we won't truly grasp them. No one is qualified to judge matters of God's kingdom until they have been tested, because there are lessons learned in the depths of trouble that
we can't learn on the heights of ease. The person who best understands the needs of God's people is the one who has experienced those needs themselves; the one who can best comfort God's people is the one who has needed comfort; and the one who can best preach salvation is the one who has felt their own need for it.

If soldiers can win a battle and sing joyfully at the same time, then by all means let them sing! But if focusing on their music causes them to miss a strike at their enemies, then the music should stop immediately. So, young warrior, put away your musical
notes and get into the fight!
