Spurgeon's Prayer: The Comfort of God's Presence

The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— whom shall I dread?
— Psalm 27:1 (BSB)

When you go through a trial, the sovereignty of God is the pillow upon which you lay your head.
— Charles Spurgeon

Great God, there was a time when we feared the very thought of coming near to You, for we were guilty, and Your holiness overwhelmed us. But now, we praise You because Your anger has turned away, and You comfort us. The throne that once was a place of dread has now become a place of refuge. Today, we run to You to hide ourselves in Your presence, longing to escape from the world and its distractions. In You, we find peace, truth, purity, and holiness.

Lord, the battles we face in this world weigh heavily upon us. We struggle against the errors and injustices of men, and above all, we battle with ourselves. But when we flee to You, we find rest for our souls. In Your presence, all cares disappear, and we are reminded that everything is in Your hands. When we live in You, we live in true wealth, secure rest, and constant joy. Help us, O Lord, to immerse ourselves in communion with You today.

Bring us near to You, Lord. Let us immerse ourselves in Your divine presence. Blessed be the love that chose us before the world began, and we praise You for Your eternal, sovereign love that still holds us fast. We cannot fully express our gratitude, but we offer our hearts in worship, knowing that with You, we are complete.
