A Constant Witness
You will be His witness to everyone of what you have seen and heard. — Acts 22:15 BSB
Paul was chosen to see and hear the Lord speaking to him from heaven. This divine election was a high privilege for him personally, but it was not meant to end with him; it was meant to have an impact on others, indeed, on all people. Europe owes the gospel to Paul at this very hour.
It is our responsibility, to the extent that the Lord has revealed Himself to us, to bear witness to what we have seen and heard. We must not hide this precious revelation. First, we must see and hear, or we will have nothing to share; but once we have, we must be eager to testify. Our testimony must be personal: “You shall be.” It must be for Christ: “You shall be His witness.” It must be constant and all-encompassing; we are to be witnesses above all else, even to the exclusion of other matters. Our witness must not be limited to a select few who are receptive to us but to “all people”—to everyone we can reach, young or old, rich or poor, good or bad. We must never be silent like those who are struck mute; for the text before us is both a command and a promise, and we must not miss it—“You shall be His witness.” “You are My witnesses,” says the Lord.
