I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. — Gal 2:20 BSB

Christ’s life is perfectly in harmony with our nature. A thoughtful woman once asked me, “How can this be so? Won’t Christ’s presence destroy our individuality and take away our responsibility as individuals?”

I responded, “Dear sister, without Christ, your individuality is only half-formed. Christ was made for you, and you were made for Christ. Until you are united, you are incomplete. He needs you as much as you need Him.” I continued, “Imagine if a gas jet said, ‘If I let in the flame, I’ll lose my individuality.’ No! It’s only when the flame enters that the gas fulfills its purpose. Or think of a snowflake—if it said, ‘If I fall to the ground, I’ll lose my individuality,’ it would never fulfill its purpose. But when it falls and is absorbed into the soil, it becomes part of the primroses and daisies that bloom in the spring.”

Let us lose ourselves and rise to a new life in Christ.
