Today’s Quote

Lord, save us from our golden calves!

— John Newton

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

In all our wanderings, the watchful eye of the Eternal Watcher is always on us—we never wander beyond the Shepherd’s sight. In our sorrows, He watches us closely, and not a single pain escapes His notice. In our work, He sees all our weariness and records every struggle of His faithful ones. God’s thoughts

surround us wherever we go and reach deep into our hearts.

Dear reader, does this comfort you? Then hold on to it. The Lord lives and is always thinking of us—this truth is too precious to let go. If the Lord thinks about us, all is well, and we can always rejoice.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

August 26

If we want wheat, we have to plow and sow; if we want flowers, we have to plant a garden and take care of it. Contentment is like Heaven on earth, and if we want to enjoy its blessings, we have to cultivate it and tend to the soil of our hearts. Only

the new nature within us can produce the flower called peace, and even then, we must be careful that ambition or unbelief doesn’t choke it out.
