Spurgeon's Prayer: Praising God’s Redeeming Love
But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
— Romans 5:8 (BSB)
The heart of the gospel is redemption, and the essence of redemption is the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ.
— Charles Spurgeon
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your love, which has no beginning or end. We praise You for the eternal love that sent Christ to redeem us. Lord, You chose us before the foundation of the world, and Your immeasurable love made a covenant for our redemption. At the right time, that love appeared in Christ, who bore our sins and accomplished our salvation.
We thank You for a love that has never wavered, even when we have wandered far from You. Your love remains steadfast, and we are grateful for Your faithfulness even when we have been unfaithful. Lord, You have kept us through every trial, and You promise to never let us go.
Some of us can say, "He restores my soul," because we had strayed, but You brought us back. We praise You for restoring us, for setting our feet on solid ground, and for giving us a new song of praise. Lord, keep us from wandering again. Help us to remain close to You, walking in the light of Your love.
We bless You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We praise You for the divine blessings that flow from Your eternal love. May our hearts continually sing of Your goodness, and may we never grow tired of giving You the praise You deserve.
