Jesus also said to them, “Does anyone bring in a lamp to put it under a basket or under a bed? Doesn’t he set it on a stand? — Mark 4:21 BSB
Jesus wants His followers to let their light shine. He doesn’t want us to hide it but to place it where it can brighten the world.
We are called to be the world’s light, shining in the darkness. Goodness is light. Kindness is light. Jesus Himself is the Light of the world, and all who love Him become little lights, shining with His radiance. He wants us to be like lamps, lighting up the places where we are.
Grace may start small in the heart, but it grows in beauty, strength, and usefulness. Like a little yeast hidden in dough, it works its way through until all is leavened.
Jesus is the Master over storms and waves. Even in the wildest storm, He was unafraid because the peace of God was in His heart. When He awoke, He calmed the wind and the waves with just a word.
We don’t need to be afraid in any storm, because Jesus can calm it and protect us from harm.
