Can you grasp the magnitude of the atonement that was the substitute for all the agony that God would have poured out on us if He hadn’t laid it on Christ?

And can you comprehend the greatness of your Savior’s mediation when He paid your debt, and paid it all at once; so that now there isn’t a single

cent of debt left for God’s people to pay, except the debt of love? Christ paid it all, so that we are completely free from all punishment because of what Jesus has done. Think, then, how great His atonement must be if He has done all this.

Come in, O strong and deep love of Jesus, like the sea at high tide. Cover all my abilities, drown all my sins, sweep away all my worries, lift up my earth-bound soul, and float it right up to my Lord’s feet. Let me lie there, a poor broken shell, washed

up by His love, having no virtue or value, only daring to whisper to Him that if He puts His ear close to me, He will hear faint echoes of the vast waves of His own love, which have brought me to the place where I delight to lie—at His feet forever.
