And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. — Acts 2:4 BSB

The day of Pentecost was a momentous event—the coming of the Holy Spirit to dwell in every heart willing to receive Him.

It wasn’t the wind the disciples heard; it was the breath of God, blowing upon the small gathering. It wasn’t literal fire that appeared over their heads, but something “like as fire”—the flame of the divine Spirit, touching and consecrating the followers of Christ.

The explanation of that incredible scene is found in the words, “They were all filled with the Holy Spirit.” The breath of God brought life, and the fire of God brought cleansing, renewal, and transformation.

What happened that day can happen for each of us today. We can be filled with the Holy Spirit, and when we are, we will speak with love, grace, and peace. Every Christian is called to be filled with the Spirit. When we are, we will have power, and our lives will become a blessing to the world.
