Spurgeon's Prayer: Rest in Christ’s Peace

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.
— John 14:27 (BSB)

Rest is a sweet sauce for labor’s weary limbs, but peace is the soul’s repose.
— Charles Spurgeon

Father, as we lay down to rest, we seek the peace that only Christ can give. We are grateful that Jesus promised us His peace—not the temporary peace that the world offers, but a lasting, deep peace that comes from knowing You. Let this peace fill our hearts tonight, driving away any anxiety, fear, or worry that may have troubled us today.

Lord, we desire a deeper sense of Your presence. As we end this day, let us feel Your nearness and know that You are with us. You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Whatever challenges we may have faced today, we bring them to You and leave them in Your hands, trusting that You will work all things for our good and Your glory.

Father, we ask for relief from any anxieties or burdens that have weighed on our minds. Help us to trust in Your provision, knowing that You care for us and are fully aware of all our needs. You have promised to give us rest, and we place our burdens at Your feet, confident that You will sustain us.

As we sleep, let Your peace guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. May we wake refreshed and renewed, ready to serve You with joyful hearts. We thank You for the gift of peace, and we rest in the assurance that You are in control of every detail of our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
