Spurgeon's Prayer: Walking in Holiness

for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
— 1 Peter 1:16 (BSB)

Holiness is the architectural plan upon which God builds up His living temple.
— Charles Spurgeon

Heavenly Father, as we conclude this day, we come before You with a desire to live lives that reflect Your holiness. You have called us to be holy because You are holy, and we ask for the strength and grace to live up to that calling. Help us to walk in purity and integrity, setting aside anything that would hinder our relationship with You.

Lord, we acknowledge that we cannot live holy lives on our own. We need Your Spirit to guide us and strengthen us in this journey of faith. Purify our hearts and minds, and help us to live in a way that honors You in all that we do. Let our words, actions, and thoughts be pleasing to You, and may we reflect Christ’s holiness in every aspect of our lives.

As we rest tonight, we ask for Your cleansing touch. If there is anything in us that does not align with Your holiness, reveal it to us and give us the grace to turn away from it. We want to be vessels of honor, fit for Your use, and ready to serve You with clean hands and pure hearts.

Lord, help us to be mindful of the ways in which we represent You to the world. May our lives be a testimony to Your grace and holiness. Let others see Christ in us, and may our actions point them to You. As we close this day, we rest in the assurance that You are making us more like Christ each day. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
