Spurgeon's Prayer: Washed and Renewed

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
— 1 John 1:9 (BSB)

Come, wash your robes in the precious blood of the Lamb, and you shall be white as snow.
— Charles Spurgeon

Father, as we reflect on this day, we come to You with hearts in need of cleansing. We confess the sins we have committed, both known and unknown, and we ask for Your forgiveness. We thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive us when we confess our sins, and we trust in Your promise to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Lord Jesus, we remember that You have washed us once for all with Your precious blood. But tonight, we come again for that daily washing that we need. Just as You washed the feet of Your disciples, we ask that You wash our hearts and minds, purifying us from the dirt of the day’s struggles and temptations.

Renew us, O Lord, and make us clean. As we prepare for sleep, may we rest in the assurance that we are forgiven, not because of anything we have done, but because of Your great mercy. Let Your grace cover us tonight, and may we awaken with hearts ready to serve You in newness of life.

We thank You for the cross, where all our sins were nailed, and we rejoice in the freedom that comes from being washed by the blood of the Lamb. As we close this day, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for Your mercy and grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
