Spurgeon's Prayer: Living by the Word

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
— 2 Timothy 3:16 (BSB)

Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.
— Charles Spurgeon

Lord God, this morning we come before You, asking that You would write Your Word more fully on the tablets of our hearts. We desire not only to know Your truth but to live by it daily. Your Word is a guide, a correction, and a source of wisdom. Help us to love Your commands and to take delight in obeying them. May our lives reflect Your truth in all that we do.

Father, we acknowledge that we are often prone to wander. Correct us when we stray from Your ways. When we face darkness, even for a moment, may Your Word be the light that leads us back. Let Your Word be the supreme authority over our thoughts, desires, and actions. We submit ourselves to its sacred law, desiring to do Your will from the heart.

Teach us, Lord, to live in obedience to every part of Your Word, even in the smallest matters. May we willingly bring every thought into captivity to the mind of Christ. Let our lives be ruled by Your truth, so that we may live in a way that pleases You.

As we go through this day, may we practice what we have learned from Your Word. Help us to be doers of the Word, not just hearers. Let us walk in the light of Your truth, with every step guided by Your wisdom. Amen.
