Spurgeon's Prayer: A Passion for the Gospel
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
— Mark 16:15 (BSB)
Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter.
— Charles Spurgeon
Lord Jesus, as we begin this day, we ask for a renewed passion for spreading Your Gospel. Stir our hearts with a desire to share the good news of salvation with those who have not yet heard. Lord, we pray especially for the children and youth in our Sunday schools and communities. Give us a greater passion for this work, so that there would be no lack of men and women eager to teach the young.
Father, we also pray for laborers to be sent into the harvest. There are many places, both near and far, where the Gospel is not being preached. Stir the hearts of Your people to step forward and bring the message of salvation to those living in spiritual darkness. If there are those among us who are called to preach, we pray that You would empower them to speak boldly in Your name. And if we are not called to preach ourselves, may we support those who are, bringing the light of Christ to neglected and unreached areas.
Holy Spirit, guide us as we seek to reach the spiritually lost in our own communities. Help us to be aware of the needs around us, and give us the wisdom to speak words of truth and hope. Let our lives be a reflection of Your love and grace, and may we be effective witnesses for Christ wherever we go.
As we go through this day, fill us with a sense of urgency to share the Gospel. Let our hearts burn with a passion for the lost, and may we be faithful to the mission You have given us. Amen.
