Spurgeon's Prayer: A Heart for Great Sinners
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.
— 2 Peter 3:9 (BSB)
Do not be content to let your sin continue. Cry out to the Lord for deliverance!
— Charles Spurgeon
Lord Jesus, tonight we come before You with a burden for great sinners, for those who are deeply entangled in sin and feel beyond hope. We know that Your arm is not too short to save, and so we pray that You would break through to them with Your sovereign mercy. Lord, reach those who are living in spiritual darkness, and bring them into the light of Your grace.
Father, we pray for those who are enslaved by the vilest of sins. We know that no one is too far gone for You to save. With the same power that raised Christ from the dead, we ask that You would raise them from the depths of their sin. Break the chains of addiction, rebellion, and despair, and lead them to the cross where they can find true freedom and forgiveness.
Lord, give us hearts of compassion for those who feel too lost to be saved. Help us to share the message of Your grace with them, assuring them that Your love is greater than their sin. Let them know that there is no sin too great for the blood of Jesus to cleanse. Use us as instruments of Your mercy, pointing others to the One who forgives and restores.
As we rest tonight, we pray that You would continue to work in the hearts of great sinners. Let them see the hope and freedom that is found in Christ, and may many come to repentance and salvation. Thank You, Lord, for Your patience and grace. Amen.
