Spurgeon's Prayer: Surrender to Christ’s Ownership
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.
— 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (BSB)
If Christ has loved me so as to give Himself for me, then I cannot live for myself any longer.
— Charles Spurgeon
Lord Jesus, as we come before You tonight, we recognize that we are not our own. We have been bought with a price, and that price was Your precious blood. Help us to live in the light of that truth, fully surrendered to You in every area of our lives. We belong to You, and we gladly offer ourselves as Your servants, dedicated to Your glory.
Father, we ask for the strength to honor You with our bodies, minds, and spirits. May every thought, word, and action reflect the truth that we are Yours. Help us to resist the temptation to live for ourselves and instead live for the One who gave His life for us. Let our lives be marked by holiness and devotion to You.
Lord, we pray for a renewed commitment to live for You in every area of life. We surrender our plans, our desires, and our will to You. Take control of every part of us, and lead us in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. May we walk in obedience and faithfulness, knowing that we are no longer our own but belong to You.
As we rest tonight, we reaffirm that we are Yours, body, soul, and spirit. We thank You for the price You paid to redeem us, and we ask for the grace to live each day in response to that great love. May we wake tomorrow with renewed strength to serve You with all our hearts. Amen.
