Spurgeon's Prayer: Christ, Our Sacrifice
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
— Isaiah 53:5 (BSB)
Christ’s death is the death of sin; His resurrection is the resurrection of our joy.
— Charles Spurgeon
Lord Jesus, as we come to the close of this day, we thank You for the great sacrifice You made for us on the cross. We look again to Calvary, where You were pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities. By Your wounds, we are healed, and through Your suffering, we are redeemed. We praise You for bearing the punishment that brought us peace.
Father, Your love is beyond measure. You did not spare Your own Son but gave Him up for us all. As we reflect on the depth of Your love, we are filled with awe and gratitude. Help us to never lose sight of the magnitude of Christ’s sacrifice. May we always come back to the cross, where our sins were nailed and where we found redemption.
Lord, we seek healing and restoration in the power of Your sacrifice. If there are any wounds in our hearts or sins that we have not yet surrendered, we lay them at the foot of the cross. Wash us anew in Your blood and make us whole. We pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, knowing that You are our great healer.
As we rest tonight, we thank You for the peace we have in knowing that our sins are forgiven. Let the truth of Your sacrifice comfort and strengthen us, and may we wake tomorrow with renewed joy in our salvation. Amen.
