Spurgeon's Prayer: Revival in the Church
Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?
— Psalm 85:6 (BSB)
Revival begins by Christians getting right first and then spills over into the world.
— Charles Spurgeon
Lord, we come before You tonight, asking for a mighty revival in Your Church. We pray that You would stir the hearts of believers, renewing their faith and filling them with fresh zeal for Your kingdom. Lord, we long to see Your Church return to the passion and love for Christ that once characterized her. Revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You.
Father, we ask for a return to sound doctrine within the Church. In a world that is often confused and led astray, we pray that the truth of the Gospel would shine brightly. Restore a deep love for Your Word among Your people, and may we cling to the doctrines of grace and the power of the cross. Let the music of free grace and dying love fill the Church once again, bringing refreshment and joy to all who hear it.
Lord, we seek a deeper outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon the Church. Empower us to be bold witnesses for Christ, living in a way that reflects the truth of the Gospel. May we not be content with a form of godliness but lacking its power. Instead, let the fire of Your Spirit burn brightly in us, so that the world may see Your light shining through us.
As we rest tonight, we ask that You would continue to work in the hearts of Your people. Revive us, renew us, and send us out to impact the world for Christ. Thank You for the work You are doing in Your Church, and we pray for even greater days ahead. Amen.
