Spurgeon's Prayer: A Prayer for the Lost and Wandering

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
— Luke 19:10 (BSB)

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees.
— Charles Spurgeon

Father, tonight we lift up before You those who are lost and wandering far from You. You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, to seek and to save the lost, and we pray that many would come to know Him as Savior. Lord, there are those we love who have not yet turned to You—friends, family members, coworkers—and we ask that You would soften their hearts and draw them to Christ.

We know that there are some who seem hardened to the Gospel, but we believe that no heart is too hard for You to soften. By the power of Your Spirit, we ask that You would break down the walls of pride, rebellion, and unbelief. Show them the beauty of Christ and the grace that is freely offered to them in the Gospel. We pray that they would see their need for a Savior and turn to Jesus, who alone can save.

Lord, give us compassion for the lost and the courage to share the Gospel with those around us. May we not shy away from speaking the truth in love, but rather, may we boldly proclaim the good news of salvation. Use us as instruments in Your hands to bring others to Christ. Give us wisdom to speak at the right time, and let our lives be a testimony to Your grace.

As we rest tonight, we entrust the lost into Your hands, knowing that You are the Good Shepherd who seeks out the lost sheep. We pray that You would bring many into Your fold, saving them by Your grace and leading them into eternal life. Amen.
