Spurgeon's Prayer: A Refreshing Touch of Christ

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
— Matthew 11:28 (BSB)

Without the Spirit of God, we can do nothing. We are as ships without wind. We are useless.
— Charles Spurgeon

Lord Jesus, as we come before You this evening, we feel the weariness that comes with the burdens of the day. But we take comfort in Your invitation: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Lord, we come to You now, seeking that rest for our souls. We ask for a fresh touch of Your Spirit to revive our hearts and give us the strength we need for tomorrow.

Father, we confess that we often grow sluggish and weary in our faith. But just as the lame man at the temple was given new strength, we ask for Your healing touch upon our spirits. Revive us tonight, Lord. Let a vision of Your face brighten our hearts and a touch of Your Spirit give us the energy and joy we need to continue serving You. May we experience a refreshing renewal of our faith as we rest in Your presence.

We ask for spiritual refreshment tonight, Lord. In Your presence, we find rest for our weary souls. We lay down the burdens we have carried throughout this day and trust in You to give us peace. Fill us with Your grace and mercy, and let us enter into the rest that only You can provide.

As we prepare to sleep, we thank You for the promise of new mercies in the morning. Let us rise tomorrow with renewed strength, ready to serve You with gladness. Thank You, Lord, for being our refuge, our strength, and our peace. Amen.
