Spurgeon's Prayer: Growing in Grace
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
— 2 Peter 3:18 (BSB)
To grow in grace is to walk more closely with God, to trust Him more completely, to serve Him more cheerfully.
— Charles Spurgeon
Father, we come before You today, desiring to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Help us to walk more closely with You, to trust You more fully, and to serve You with joyful hearts. May we grow deeper in our understanding of Christ’s love and grace, and may that understanding shape the way we live.
Lord, we pray for humility and faith. We confess that we often try to rely on our own strength, but we know that true growth comes only from You. Help us to rely fully on Christ’s finished work, trusting that His grace is sufficient for all our needs. Let our faith be strengthened as we walk with You, and may we grow more like Christ each day.
We ask for Your help in overcoming any spiritual struggles we face. Lord, we know that growth in grace often comes through struggle, but we ask for Your strength to persevere. Help us to be conformed to the image of Christ, even when the path is difficult. May we trust in Your guidance and find joy in the process of becoming more like our Savior.
As we go through this day, let our hearts be set on growing in grace. May we seek You in all things, and may our lives reflect the transformation that comes from knowing Christ. Thank You, Lord, for the grace You provide, and for the promise that You are with us every step of the way. Amen.
