Spurgeon's Prayer: Forgiveness and Restoration in Christ
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
— 1 John 1:9 (BSB)
When God pardons, He pardons like a God; it is not because we are worthy, but because He is gracious.
— Charles Spurgeon
Gracious Father, we come before You with hearts that seek Your forgiveness and cleansing. We confess any sins of the past, moments where we have forgotten You or acted apart from You. Lord, forgive our wanderings and blot out our transgressions. We trust in Your promise that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Lord, we ask for restoration. In any area where we have acted outside of Your will, we pray that You would restore us and bring us back into full union with Christ. We long to live in harmony with You, where every thought, word, and deed is in submission to Your will. Help us to live each day as if in union with our living Head, Jesus Christ.
Take away any life within us that is contrary to the life of Christ. We ask for Your Spirit to fill us and guide us in all things, so that we may walk humbly before You. May our lives reflect the grace and mercy we have received in Christ, and may we bring glory to Your name through our obedience and love.
As we go through this day, may we live with the assurance that we are forgiven and restored. Let our hearts be filled with joy as we walk in the light of Your love, free from guilt and shame. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and grace. Amen.
