Spurgeon's Prayer: A Heart of Thankfulness

Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (BSB)

It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.
— Charles Spurgeon

Lord, as we close this day, we come before You with hearts of thankfulness. We thank You for Your many blessings, both those that are evident and those we often overlook. Your Word tells us to give thanks in all circumstances, and we desire to live in obedience to that command. Whether our day has been filled with joy or challenges, we offer You our gratitude for Your presence and Your grace.

Help us, Lord, to develop a heart of thankfulness that extends beyond our circumstances. May we not be quick to forget the countless ways You have blessed us. Open our eyes to the small blessings in our lives, the simple joys, and the constant provision that comes from Your hand. Teach us to appreciate every gift, knowing that all good things come from You.

Father, we pray that our thankfulness would glorify You. Let our hearts be filled with joy as we reflect on all You have done for us. Even in difficult moments, help us to remember Your faithfulness and to give thanks. May we be people who radiate gratitude, not only when life is easy but also when challenges come.

As we prepare to rest, we thank You for this day, for the breath in our lungs, for the love of family and friends, and most of all, for Your love that never fails. We rest tonight in the peace of knowing that You are good and that Your blessings are endless. In the morning, may we rise with hearts full of thankfulness, ready to give You glory in all things. Amen.
