Spurgeon's Prayer: Complete Dependence on Christ

And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
— Philippians 4:19 (BSB)

Nothing beneath the skies, or above the skies, can make us happy apart from Christ.
— Charles Spurgeon

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that seek a deeper understanding of our complete dependence on Christ. You have provided an advocate and intercessor in heaven, and through Your Holy Spirit, our desires and prayers are directed to You. Lord, we desire to know Christ as our all in all. May He be everything to us in every aspect of our lives. We accept Him as our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.

Help us to trust fully in Christ, never seeking anything outside of Him for our spiritual needs. We confess that there have been moments when we have looked to ourselves or the world for solutions. Forgive us, Lord, for these wanderings. Remind us that Christ is the well from which we draw living water, and without Him, we can do nothing. Today, we plant ourselves more firmly in the soil of grace and take hold of all that Christ offers us.

O Savior, reveal Yourself to us anew. Draw us deeper into Your divine mystery, and may we abide in You, bearing fruit for Your glory. Without You, we can do nothing, and we long to live in continual dependence on Your strength.

Forgive us for any past moments of forgetfulness, and if we have acted apart from You, blot out our sins. In the future, help us to live in full union with You, speaking and acting as those who live in Christ. Bring every area of our lives into full submission to Him so that, for us, living truly means Christ.

As we begin this day, let us live in joyful faith, trusting fully in the finished work of Christ and walking in humble dependence on Him. Amen.
