Spurgeon's Prayer: A Call to Repentance and Faith
Repent, then, and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped away,
— Acts 3:19 (BSB)
You are no saint, say you; well, if you repent and believe, you are as much a saint as Peter and Paul.
— Charles Spurgeon
Father, we come before You tonight, praying for those who have never repented of their sins or believed in Christ. They are living in darkness, without God, and without hope. But we know that Your mercy is great, and we ask that You would look upon them with compassion. Though they do not seek You, we pray that You would seek them. Convict their hearts of their sin, and lead them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Lord, we pray that the sinner would see their sin and mourn it. May they see their Savior and accept Him. Open their eyes to the beauty of Christ and the forgiveness that is offered through His sacrifice. We long to see many come to know You, to experience the joy and peace that comes from being reconciled to You.
We rejoice in the fact that, through Jesus, our sins are wiped away, and we are given new life. This is our hope and our joy—that no matter how far we have strayed, we can find forgiveness and restoration in Christ. Let this hope fill the hearts of those who are lost, and may they turn to You in faith.
Father, we thank You for the gift of salvation, and we ask that You continue to work in the hearts of those who do not yet know You. May the times of refreshing come as they repent and turn to You. Let them go on their way rejoicing, knowing that they are forgiven, loved, and accepted by You.
As we rest tonight, we pray for those who are still far from You. May they find their way home, into the arms of their loving Father. Amen.
