Spurgeon's Prayer: The Joy of Belonging to God

So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, you are also an heir through God.
— Galatians 4:7 (BSB)

To feel God's love is very precious, but to believe it when you do not feel it, is the noblest.
— Charles Spurgeon

Heavenly Father, tonight we rejoice in the knowledge that we are no longer slaves but Your children. You have adopted us into Your family, and we are heirs of Your kingdom. What a privilege it is to know that we belong to You, and that You love us as Your own. We approach You now with childlike faith, trusting fully in Your goodness and grace.

Lord, we thank You for the joy of belonging to You. We ask that You would fill our hearts with a sense of belonging, knowing that we are Yours. Let there be no doubt in our minds about our place in Your family. As we come before You, let us feel the joy and peace that comes from being Your children, fully loved and fully accepted.

Father, help us to approach You with simple, childlike faith, looking up to You as our loving Father. Take away any doubts, fears, or anxieties that may cloud our hearts, and replace them with the pure joy of knowing that we are Yours. Let nothing spoil the beauty of this relationship that we have with You.

We also ask that You remind us of the inheritance that is ours in Christ. As Your children, we are heirs of Your kingdom, and we look forward to the day when we will fully experience the glory that You have prepared for us. Let this hope fill us with joy, even in the midst of life’s difficulties.

As we prepare to rest tonight, we rest in the peace of knowing that we are Your children, loved by You, and secure in Your hands. Amen.
