Spurgeon's Prayer: Praising God's Endless Mercy

The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion.
— Psalm 145:8 (BSB)

Do not stand back because you are unworthy, for none ever came to Him who was worthy.
— Charles Spurgeon

Father, we come before You today to bless Your holy name. We pause and reflect on the greatness of each blessing You have given us, and we are filled with awe. "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me." Your mercy knows no limits, and we stand amazed at Your gracious love.

We acknowledge how unworthy we were before our conversion, and how, even now, we fall short of Your holiness. Yet, despite our flaws and failures, Your grace continues to flow toward us in abundance. We marvel at the riches of Your grace that cover us, unworthy though we are.

And when we consider all that You have promised us, secured by Your eternal covenant, we can scarcely find words to express our gratitude. Our faith embraces these promises as if they are already ours, for we know that Your Word is sure and true. We long to offer You praise as high as our expectations, and we desire our expectations to rise to the heights of Your promises.

But even if our praises fall short, we offer You all that we have—our hearts, our minds, and our souls. To You, Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we give all honor and glory. Let all of Your people praise You. Let the redeemed of the Lord declare it—those whom You have redeemed from the hand of the enemy.

Father, may our lives today be filled with thanksgiving for Your abundant mercy. May we live as people deeply aware of Your grace, and may our gratitude overflow into praise. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me. Amen.
