Spurgeon's Prayer: Walking in Fellowship with God

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
— 1 John 1:7 (BSB)

Nearness to God brings likeness to God.
— Charles Spurgeon

Father, we come to You tonight with a desire to walk in the light, as You are in the light. We long to have true fellowship with You and with Your Son, Jesus Christ. We know that this fellowship brings joy, peace, and strength to our souls, and we desire to experience it to the fullest.

We recognize that we can only walk in this light because of Christ’s atoning sacrifice. It is His blood that purifies us from all sin, and we trust in His finished work. Lord, let our faith be strong, knowing that we are cleansed and accepted by You through Jesus. May this assurance give us the confidence to come before You with boldness, knowing that we are loved and welcomed in Your presence.

Help us, Lord, to remove anything that might hinder our fellowship with You. Whether it be pride, selfishness, or hidden sin, we ask that You would cleanse us and draw us closer to You. Let there be nothing that stands between us and our Father in heaven.

We desire to know You more deeply, to enjoy the sweet fellowship of Your presence, and to live each day in the light of Your love. As we walk with You, may we grow in likeness to Christ, reflecting His love, grace, and holiness in all that we do. Let our relationship with You be real, true, and full of joy, as we trust in Your Spirit to guide and sustain us.

As we prepare to rest tonight, we ask that You fill our hearts with the joy of Your fellowship. Let us rest in the knowledge that we are Your children, loved and cherished by our heavenly Father. Amen.
