Spurgeon's Prayer: Resting in God's Forgiveness

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
— Romans 8:1 (BSB)

You are a great sinner, but He is a greater Savior.
— Charles Spurgeon

Heavenly Father, as we come before You this evening, we rest in the assurance of Your forgiveness. We thank You that through Christ, there is now no condemnation for those who belong to Him. We rejoice that our sins are forgiven, that they have been blotted out like a cloud, and that they will never be held against us. What a joy it is to know that in Christ, we are fully pardoned!

We approach You tonight with confidence, not in our own merit, but in the finished work of Jesus. It is through His blood, shed for the forgiveness of our sins, that we are reconciled to You. Lord, grant us the peace that comes from knowing that our sins are forgiven and will never be mentioned again. Help us to stand firm in this truth, fully assured by faith in the finished work of Christ.

We also thank You, Lord, for the peace that Your forgiveness brings. As we prepare to rest tonight, may we have no lingering doubts about our reconciliation with You. Let Your Holy Spirit apply Your promise of peace to our hearts, so that we may go to sleep knowing that we are fully accepted in Christ.

Father, help us to live each day as forgiven men and women, free from guilt and shame. Let our lives be marked by joy and gratitude, knowing that we are no longer under condemnation but are free to walk in the light of Your love. May Your peace guard our hearts and minds, and may we rest tonight in the security of Your grace. Amen.
