Spurgeon's Prayer: Provision and Contentment
And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
— Philippians 4:19 (BSB)
God is too good to be unkind, and He is too wise to be mistaken. And when we cannot trace His hand, we must trust His heart.
— Charles Spurgeon
Our gracious Father, we come to You, trusting in Your promise to provide for all our needs. We know that You are the source of all good things, and we rest in the assurance that You will not fail to meet our needs according to Your riches in Christ Jesus. Whether we have much or little, we trust that You know what is best for us. Help us to be content in every circumstance, relying on Your wisdom and provision.
Many of us face challenges and uncertainties, whether it be financial struggles, health issues, or personal trials. In these moments, we are tempted to worry and lose sight of Your faithfulness. But today, we choose to trust in Your goodness. You have promised that our bread will be given, and our water will be sure. Like the birds of the air who neither sow nor reap but are fed by You, we know that You will take care of us.
Help us, Lord, to live without anxiety. We confess that we often try to solve our problems in our own strength, but we ask for the faith to rely fully on You. Teach us to seek first Your kingdom and trust that all these things will be added to us. May we not be led astray by worry, but instead find peace in the knowledge that You are a good and loving Father who cares for His children.
Above all, give us hearts that are content with what we have, knowing that true riches are found in Christ. Let us not measure our lives by earthly possessions, but by the abundance of Your grace and love. Amen.
