Spurgeon's Prayer: Trusting God's Will
“Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
— Luke 22:42 (BSB)
When your will is God's will, you will have your will.
— Charles Spurgeon
Lord, we come before You with hearts that long to be fully submitted to Your will. We know that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Yet, at times, we struggle to accept Your will, especially when it leads us through difficulties or trials. Father, we ask that You help us to trust You completely, knowing that You are always working for our good and for Your glory.
Lord, deliver us from any quarrels with You. Help us to be at peace with whatever You allow in our lives, whether joy or sorrow. May we have the same heart as Jesus, who said, "Not my will, but Yours be done." Let us say, "It is the Lord; let Him do what seems good to Him," and may we bless Your name forever, even in the midst of trials.
Father, we ask for a heart of contentment and trust. May we always believe that Your will is perfect, even when we cannot understand it. Help us to trust that You are in control and that You are working all things for our good. Let us rest in Your sovereignty and find peace in knowing that You hold our lives in Your hands.
Lord, we also pray for those who are struggling to accept Your will. Give them the peace that comes from trusting You completely. Let them find comfort in knowing that You are good and that You never fail. May we all, as Your children, submit to Your will with joy, knowing that Your plans are always best. Amen.
