Spurgeon's Prayer: Loving Christ in All Circumstances
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
— Romans 8:28 (BSB)
Let this be our desire—to be so filled with love to Jesus that the very breathing of our soul would be, 'God be glorified.'
— Charles Spurgeon
Lord Jesus, we come to You this morning, asking that You increase our love for You. There are moments when Your love overwhelms us, and we feel that we would gladly sacrifice everything for Your honor. But we mourn that we do not always feel this intensity of love. There are times when You seem distant, and we struggle to maintain that same devotion. Yet, Lord, give us a love that remains strong, even in the dark.
Let us not depend on our feelings, but may our love for You be steadfast, regardless of our circumstances. Help us to love You with all our hearts, knowing that You are worthy of our love in all things. We want to love You with a sacrificial love, willing to give up anything for Your glory. Whether in times of joy or sorrow, let our love for You remain firm.
Father, strengthen us in our battle against sin. We know that our love for You can help us conquer sin. Give us the victory, especially when the battle is fierce. May we resolve that, no matter what happens, we will stand at Your feet and cling to You.
Lord, we pray that our love for You would not waver but grow stronger each day. Let us glorify You with our lives, living in constant devotion to Your name. May we walk in the assurance that all things work together for our good, because we love You and are called according to Your purpose.
