Spurgeon's Prayer: Coming to Christ for Healing and Salvation
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
— Matthew 11:28 (BSB)
Come as you are; all guilty, all unholy, all broken and unworthy. Bring your broken heart, bring your doubts, bring your sins.
— Charles Spurgeon
Dear Savior, we come to You this morning, recognizing our true state and our deep need for Your healing and salvation. We know that we are beggars, entirely dependent on Your grace, and we come to You just as we are. You are the Great Physician, and we bring to You our wounds and our deep-seated sins. Lord, the more we understand our depravity, the more we realize that we are the very ones You came to save. We are sick with sin, but You are the Healer.
Thank You, Lord, that we can come to You in our brokenness. You do not turn us away, but by Your stripes, we are healed. You take our sins upon Yourself, and by Your sacrifice, we are made free. This morning, we lay ourselves at Your feet, answering Your call to come to You and find rest. Let us feel the sweet rest You promise, and may those who have never come to You before find the courage to come now, building their hope on You, the living stone.
Father, we come to You just as we are, knowing that we have nothing to offer but our need. But we are grateful that Your grace is more than enough. You are our refuge, our comfort, and our salvation. May we walk in the freedom that comes from knowing You have made us whole.
