Spurgeon's Prayer: Seeking God’s Mercy for Our Nation
and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
— 2 Chronicles 7:14 (BSB)
Our nation's true hope lies in God’s sovereignty, not in man’s schemes.
— Charles Spurgeon
Father, we come to You tonight with heavy hearts for our nation. We see the distress, division, and brokenness around us, and we know that only You can bring healing. Lord, we ask for Your mercy upon our land. Please, by Your grace, turn the hearts of the people back to You. May we humble ourselves, repent of our sins, and seek Your face, that You might hear from heaven and heal our land.
We pray for revival among the people, Lord. Let there be a turning away from sin and a return to righteousness. Awaken the hearts of those who have grown cold, and stir within us a passion for truth and holiness. We know that our nation’s hope is not in the plans of men, but in Your sovereign will. You alone can bring the change that is needed.
Lord, we ask for Your guidance over our leaders. Give them wisdom to govern with justice and integrity, seeking not their own gain, but the good of the people. May they turn to You for direction in all they do, and may their decisions reflect Your heart for righteousness and truth.
As we rest tonight, we commit our nation into Your hands. We trust in Your sovereign power to bring about Your purposes. Guide us as Your people to stand firm in prayer and faith, knowing that You are the true hope for our nation’s future.
