Spurgeon's Prayer: Longing for Heaven
In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.
— John 14:2-3 (BSB)
To come to Thee is to come home from exile, to come to land out of the raging storm, to come to rest after long labor, to come to the goal of my desires and the summit of my wishes.
— Charles Spurgeon
Father, as we come to the close of this day, our hearts are filled with a longing for our eternal home in heaven. We thank You, Lord, that You have gone before us to prepare a place where we will dwell with You forever. Our hearts yearn for the day when we will be with You, where there will be no more pain, no more sorrow, and no more death.
Lord, we live in this world as pilgrims, but we know that this is not our final home. We long for the day when we will be with You, where every tear will be wiped away and we will experience the fullness of joy in Your presence. Thank You for the promise that You are preparing a place for us, and that where You are, we will be also.
Father, we rejoice in the hope of eternal life. Though we face trials and struggles in this world, we know that they are temporary, and that our eternal reward is waiting for us in heaven. Help us to live with heaven in our hearts, looking forward to the day when we will be united with You.
As we rest tonight, we ask that You fill our hearts with peace and hope, knowing that You are preparing a place for us. Let our longing for heaven motivate us to live faithfully for You each day. We rejoice in the hope of eternal life and eagerly await the day when we will be home with You.
