Spurgeon's Prayer: Lifting Our Hearts in Worship

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Hallelujah!
— Psalm 150:6 (BSB)

It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.
— Charles Spurgeon

O Lord, we lift our hearts in worship to You. You are worthy of all praise, and we desire to glorify Your name in all that we do. As we offer our worship this morning, we long for words that are worthy of Your greatness, but we confess that our earthly expressions feel weak and limited. Yet we know that You receive our praise with love and grace.

Lord, we long for the day when we will be free from the limitations of this earthly body, which often feels so out of place in our worship. When will we be able to soar to Your throne, where we can join the songs of heaven and worship You without constraint? We eagerly anticipate that day when we will praise You forever, leading the eternal music and lifting our voices in perfect harmony with all creation.

Even now, as we worship You on earth, we long to sing a new song of praise. We desire to express our devotion in ways that match the greatness of who You are. But we know that even the songs we sing here fall short of the glory that is due to You. Yet, we offer them with joyful hearts, trusting that You are pleased with the sincerity of our praise.

Father, as we go through this day, help us maintain a spirit of worship in everything we do. May our words, our thoughts, and our actions reflect the praise that is due to You. Let our lives be a living testimony of worship, pointing others to Your glory.
