Spurgeon's Prayer: Anticipating Christ's Return
“Behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of prophecy in this book.”
— Revelation 22:7 (BSB)
We must always have an eye to the coming of the Lord, for this is the great hope of the Church.
— Charles Spurgeon
O Lord Jesus, we eagerly await Your return. As we come to the close of this day, we are reminded of the promise that You will come again, not in weakness, but in power and glory. Our hearts are filled with longing as we anticipate the day when You will set all things right, bringing justice, peace, and righteousness.
Father, we pray that You would prepare our hearts for Christ’s return. Let us not be distracted by the cares of this world, but help us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. We long to see You, Lord, and to live in the fullness of Your kingdom. May we be ready when You come, standing firm in our faith and living in obedience to Your will.
We rejoice in the promise of Your victory, Lord. Though the world is filled with pain and sorrow, we know that one day You will wipe away every tear and make all things new. We look forward to the day when You will reign as King of kings and Lord of lords, and all the earth will be filled with Your glory.
As we rest tonight, we ask that You keep us mindful of Your return. Let our hearts be filled with hope and expectation as we wait for the day when You will come again. Strengthen our faith, and help us live in light of Your coming.
