Spurgeon's Prayer: Coming to God in Our Need

And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
— Philippians 4:19 (BSB)

You may not always get what you want, but you will always get what you need.
— Charles Spurgeon

O Lord God, You are the source of all that is good and full, and we come to You today, recognizing our own emptiness and need. We trust that You will supply everything we lack, not because we are deserving, but because You are gracious and merciful. We don’t come to You in vain, for we come with a powerful plea: Your Word commands us to seek You, Your promises assure us, and Christ Jesus, our great High Priest, leads the way.

Father, help us to ask for what is right. May our desires align with Your will, and may our words be pleasing to You. We come, not in our own strength or righteousness, but through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Advocate. Whatever we ask in His name, believing, we know You will grant according to Your perfect will.

We want to express our adoration for Your holy and beloved Name. All the earth worships You, and heaven is filled with Your glory. O, that more hearts on earth would acknowledge You and love You with all their being! We long for the day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Blessed Spirit, guide us as we pray. Teach us to lift our hearts in praise and thanksgiving for all You have done and all You continue to do. Help us recognize our dependence on You and grow in trust, knowing that You meet all our needs through the riches of Christ.
