Spurgeon's Prayer: Living in Christ's Light
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
— Matthew 5:16 (BSB)
A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you will remember. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble.
— Charles Spurgeon
Heavenly Father, as we close this day, we ask that You help us live as lights in this world. We want to reflect Christ in everything we do, letting His light shine through us for others to see. Lord, fill us with sweetness and light, so that others may be drawn to You through our lives.
Help us guard our minds against false teachings, our hearts against wrong feelings, and our actions against evil. Keep us from careless words and from giving in to anger. Above all, keep us from the temptations of greed and malice. Fill our hearts with love and kindness, so that we may live in a way that brings glory to Your name.
Lord, we want to live for Jesus, for there is no life like it. Teach us how to walk wisely, making the most of every opportunity to reflect Your love to the world. Let us not seek our own interests, but help us look to the interests of others, living as true followers of Christ.
As we end this day, we ask that You fill our hearts with Your light and let it shine brightly in all we do. Let our conversations, actions, and even our thoughts reflect the beauty of Christ. Help us live tomorrow in such a way that others see Christ in us and are drawn closer to You.
Thank You for the privilege of living for Jesus. May our lives be a testimony to Your grace and goodness, bringing light to those around us.
