Silent Change
and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not know where it was from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside — John 2:9 BSB
Jesus performed this miracle quietly and without any attention-seeking. He didn’t announce what He was going to do, and the people around Him didn’t even realize what had happened. That’s often how He works today. He doesn’t work through loud, dramatic events but through quiet, gentle ways. Lives are transformed, prayers are answered, and help arrives in times of need, all without fanfare or noise.
It’s interesting that the servants who drew the water knew about the miracle. Those who work with Christ are often let in on what He is doing. This simple truth is so beautiful. Jesus shares His secrets with those who serve Him. He calls them not just servants but friends. If we want to see Christ’s power and glory, we need to join Him in His work. Often, His glory is revealed most clearly in acts of humble service.
The ruler didn’t know where the wine came from, and it’s often the same with us. Many times, we receive blessings without realizing where they came from. A troubled Christian might pray in fear, only to find peace filling their heart afterward, not realizing that Jesus was the source. We drink from the cups God fills with heavenly sweetness, receive gifts from His throne, and often don’t recognize His hand at work beside us.
