Satisfy us in the morning with Your loving devotion, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. — Ps 90:14 BSB

Many of God’s dear children are tossed about on a sea of uncertainty, doubt, and fear because they have not had a tangible manifestation of Christ to their souls. He has not come to them in the power of His love, yet they often cry out, “When will You come to me? Visit me with Your salvation; speak a word to my soul. It is You, and You alone, that I want to hear, see, and know!”

These longings are the gracious workings of the Lord, the secret beginnings of His coming, the signs of His approach, like the dawning of the day before the morning star rises and the sun follows in its wake. When the Lord does come in the sweet manifestation of His presence and power, He will remain where He has come, for He never truly leaves a soul He has once visited. He may seem to withdraw Himself, but He never departs from the temple He has adorned with His presence. Christ is formed in the hearts of His people as the hope of glory; their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and Christ dwells in them by faith. Even though we may mourn over His absence and not feel His gracious presence as we desire, He remains with us if He has once come.
