He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. — Rev 2:29 BSB

These words extend the message beyond the church to which they were first spoken and address themselves to everyone who hears and receives the Word. Each message sent to the churches becomes a personal message to us. If we have a spiritually circumcised ear, willing to hear the Lord’s voice, He speaks to us as clearly and personally as He spoke to each church. It is an unspeakable blessing to have this ear given to us, allowing us to receive with humility, simplicity, and godly sincerity what the Lord speaks in His Word. It is through His Word that He knocks at the door of our hearts. And what a blessing He promises to those who hear His voice and open the door, just as a loving wife would eagerly open the door for her husband—“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me” (Rev. 3:20).
